Who I Am

Ruby Wool serves as the student trustee on the University of Oregon Board of Trustees. She is a graduating journalism major and Stamps Scholar at UO’s Robert D. Clark Honors College.

Wool is the editor-in-chief of Ascend, Oregon's inaugural sport and outdoor magazine. The first 128-page edition will be published in early June. She is also authoring an undergraduate thesis titled, “How Female College Athletes use TikTok to Create and Promote their Personal Brands.”

The 22-year-old worked for NBC Sports in the editorial research department supporting its coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. In addition to her professional experience, she has studied in Spain and at the University of Oxford. She reported on World Press Freedom Day at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City and in Santiago, Chile, in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Wool has represented and won medals for Team USA Tennis at the Maccabi Games in Mexico City, Israel, and Argentina. She also leads the UO Club Tennis team as both a participant and president, and is an active member of the Warsaw Sports Business Club and UO Chabad. Through domestic and international experiences, she seeks to expand her network, gain knowledge and broaden her worldview.
